Many Missing Manuscripts

There was a book about this story,
Not made into a song,
The loss of a suitcase,
Was something that went wrong.

I'll write this,
Because I feel the pain,
Manuscripts were lost,
By Hadley Hemingway.

Someone took Ernest's papers,
It happened on a train,
His wife brought his material,
But never to regain.

Originals and carbons,
From 1922,
Between Paris and Switzerland,
Those drafts gone, it's true.

Mr. Hemingway,
It is displayed,
Some of your work,
Has been mislaid.
